(The Shell) House Rules

House Rules

We ask that you please read these House Rules carefully and in full.

Guest Access

The house and its facilities are exclusively for guests who are booked and paid for. Hosting parties, BBQs, or any type of gathering with additional visitors is not permitted without prior written approval. Unauthorized events may result in the cancellation of your booking and forfeiture of any payments, including the security deposit.

Noise & Consideration

To respect our island surroundings and neighboring properties, guests and visitors must keep noise levels to a minimum, especially between 9 PM and 8 AM, including during arrival and departure. Failure to do so may result in the termination of your stay without a refund.

Music & Noise

Music may be played on the veranda, but it should not carry to the BBQ area or firepit, out of respect for neighbors. Outside music must be turned off by 9 PM, and all noise should be kept to a minimum after this time. Any offensive noise may result in the termination of your stay without refund.

Wi-Fi & Equipment

Wi-Fi, stereo equipment, and the TV are available for your use. Please refrain from unplugging or tampering with the connections, as the island’s Wi-Fi can be unreliable, and at times only one guest may be able to connect.

Equipment Use

You’re welcome to borrow items such as kayaks, the beach cabana, beach trolley, fishing rods, and more. Please rinse and return them to their storage place after use. For safety, children must be supervised at all times when using equipment.

Water

The beach shower uses water from the island aquifer, which is safe for rinsing but not for drinking. We kindly ask that you rinse off sand and salt here to help conserve house water. Our tank water is filtered and safe to drink, though some guests may prefer to boil it. As our water supply is dependent on island rainfall, we ask for your mindfulness in limiting water usage.

BBQ

We provide a clean BBQ for your enjoyment. If used, please ensure it is cleaned before departure. If the BBQ requires cleaning, a $100 charge will be deducted from your security deposit.

Injury

Keppel Shell House takes no responsibility for personal injury incurred during your stay. Should you require medical attention, you will need to return to mainland Yeppoon or, in an emergency, go to Rockhampton Hospital by dialing 000.

Damages & Malfunctioning Equipment

Please report any issues with equipment immediately so we can arrange repairs. As service contractors are limited on Great Keppel Island, we will make every effort to resolve problems quickly. You will be held responsible for any damage to the property, and if any items are missing, replacement charges will apply.
